The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) of
Illinois administers the retirement plan for employees of public colleges and
universities. Participation begins on the first day of employment and requires
a mandatory contribution of 8% of gross salary to the plan.ÌýPolice Officers are required to contribute 9.5% of their gross salary.Ìý
Employees have a choice of three pension plan
options.Ìý Employees have six months from
